Who are affected?
By the age the chemical changes in the eye lenses may cause fading of the lens.
Consequently, cataract is part of the normal aging process as well as the most common eye disorder: it occurs in one of every five people between 65 and 75 years, and one of every two people above 75 years of age.
It increasingly occurs among people between 40 and 60 years of age as well, possibly due to environmental damages. In certain cases injuries or drugs may contribute to the development of cataract.
