Dr. Andrea Kerek

I completed my university studies at the University of Medicine in Pécs. Since 1972 I have been working at the Hungarian Defence Forces Central Hospital, since 1991 as the deputy head of the department. Since 2000, I have worked as a professional manager at Optimum Vision Center. I am involved in all branches of ophthalmology. My main areas of interest are: ocular fundus diagnostics, intraocular nerve body localization, application of botulinum toxin, practical aspects of phacoemulsification. More recently, I have been involved in refractive surgery, including state-of-the-art surgical procedures (LASIK, LASEK) and related diagnostic procedures. I have been on study trips in the USA, Bascom Palmer Eye Institute and Manhattan Eye Ear Throat Hospital. I am a member of the board of the Hungarian Society of Ophthalmology and of the editorial board of the Journal of Ophthalmology. I have published twenty-three articles and one professional training course note. I have given forty-eight scientific lectures, 3 courses, and have been asked to perform live mediated surgery on three occasions.
