Prof. dr. Adrienne Csutak

I graduated as a general practitioner and then as an ophthalmologist at the University of Debrecen. I started working in 2003 at the Eye Clinic in both clinical conservative and ophthalmic surgery (I am the founder of the glaucoma clinic at the Eye Clinic of Debrecen), I was involved in both university education and ophthalmological research at the clinic until 2019, when I took over the leadership of the Department of Ophthalmology at the Eye Clinic of Pécs, a task I have been carrying out with dedication ever since.

I have studied at several renowned institutions abroad, where I had the opportunity to learn from the best in the field of ophthalmology: Johns Hopkins University (Baltimore, USA), University of Genoa (Genoa, Italy), Moorfields Eye Hospital (London, UK) and ESASO (Lugano, Switzerland).

My research achievements and patient care activities have been recognised with numerous professional national and international awards: the Johns Hopkins University “Invention of the Year” Award (USA, 2001), the Best Young Lecturer Award (Singapore, 2003), the University of Debrecen Innovation Award (HU, 2004), the Hungarian Patent Office Millennium Award (HU, 2008) and the Béla Alberth Memorial Medal for outstanding contribution to ophthalmic care in Hungary (HU, 2022).

Currently, I am actively involved in human clinical trials for the development of new innovative ophthalmic drugs, devices and procedures, the results of which have been published and are currently published in prestigious international journals.

I have been a doctor of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences (HAS) since 2022. . I am a founding member of the MTA DAB DKSZ Genomics and Proteomics Working Committee and of the Hungarian Association and Research Vision of Ophthalmology (HARVO), among many other professional society memberships. I am an evaluator, a member of the evaluation committee and chair for Hungarian and international tenders. I regularly proofread foreign articles in journals and I am the academic editor of the journal PlosOne.

• Blepharoplasty, diseases of the eyelid, cornea and conjunctiva, dry eye disease
• conservative and surgical treatment of glaucoma
• cataract surgery, either with conventional or premium intraocular lenses
• diseases of the inside of the eye, such as diabetes-related and age-related retinal diseases (retinopathies, retinal degenerations), vitreous inflammation (uveitis).
