Learn about our laser and eye examination equipment

The use of modern devices is now essential for mapping the fine details of the eye and detecting changes caused by eye diseases. Due to innovative technologies, our diagnostic tools can show every detail of the eye. The use of modern equipment is as essential for diagnosing vision problems and monitoring the healing process as the use of high-tech lasers for dioptre correction and laser cataract surgery.

We chose state-of-the-art equipment from Bausch+Lomb, a world leader in ophthalmology, to perform laser vision correction and laser cataract surgery.

Cataract surgery with femtolaser

The femtolaser is the cutting-edge technology for cataract surgery

The Victus femtosecond laser is capable of treating more precisely than a thousandth of a millimetre. A special camera (OCT) built into the device allows the surgeon to see the tiny details of the eye on a screen and follow the laser’s operation. The femtosecond laser performs the most critical steps of the operation, opening the lens and cutting the lens nucleus, without touching the eye. This reduces the risks of traditional surgery and also improves the accuracy of the positioning of the implanted intraocular lens, which improves the best quality of vision available.

To increase the safety and successful recovery of our patients, we were the first to introduce femtolaser technology for lens surgery among private clinics in Hungary.

The Stellaris Elite ultrasonic phaco device is the essential tool for traditional cataract surgery. The ophthalmologist performing the surgery removes the cataracted lens through a small incision and implants an intraocular lens in its place for maximum results. A wide range of intraocular lenses used in ophthalmology are available at our institute.

Customised treatments in laser vision correction

The Zyoptix excimer laser and the Victus femtosecond laser can treat more precisely than a thousandth of a millimetre. The built-in iris recognition system ensures that fully customised treatment programmes can be applied. An eye-tracking system ensures that the laser beam is always delivered to the right place, even if the eye moves.

Zyoptix diagnostic workstation for safe design

The diagnostic workstation is used to map the shape of the cornea in 3 dimensions and measure the total refractive error of the eye. It measures thousands of points to create a detailed spatial map of the eye. It provides precise information on which of the possible procedures can be used. It can also identify corneal abnormalities that preclude laser vision correction procedures.
The workstation’s wavefront analyser (aberrometer) can measure the total refractive error of the eye. It can be used to detect complex refractive errors in the eye. The device provides individual corrections by displaying the expected post-operative results in advance. The latest iris detection system has also been built into the Zyoptix diagnostic workstation. This allows the patient to be identified during examination and treatment and the procedure to be carried out even more accurately. The iris recognition system has taken safety and accuracy to the highest level.

State-of-the-art examination equipment for accurate diagnostis

Cornea topography
[Orbscan]

Cornea topography
[Orbscan]

The cornea topography provides a detailed map of the front and back surface of the cornea, its curvature and thickness. It is a simple diagnostic tool that can easily determine whether you are suitablefor laser eye surgery. From here, the laser device in the operating room directly reads the values from the eye being examined.

Slit lamp
[CSO – SL9900 ELITE]

Slit lamp
[CSO – SL9900 ELITE]

The most basic examination method in ophthalmology. It’s practically a microscope that can be used to examine different parts of the eye, making it easy to diagnose injuries and lesions, for example. If you visit an ophthalmologist, you’re bound to come across this device. For instance, after cataract surgery, your doctor will check that the lens is positioned correctly.

OCT
[OptoVue – Avanti]

OCT
[OptoVue – Avanti]

It can be used to get information about the thickness of the cornea, the lesions on it and the subtle changes caused by glaucoma. It is also used to assess the suitability of laser vision correction surgery. Lesions can be detected and monitored in the retina, optic nerve head and macula. Overall, it is a versatile, fast equipment.

OCT Angiography
[OptoVue – Avanti Angio]

OCT Angiography
[OptoVue – Avanti Angio]

This device allows the use of non-contrast vascular staining, which can be particularly informative in detecting diabetes, glaucoma, ocular fundus disease or macular degeneration. Years ago, this diagnostic test was preceded by unpleasant preparations, but nowadays, due to technological developments, it can be performed easily and without discomfort.

Visual field testing
[OPTO – AP300]

Visual field testing
[OPTO – AP300]

A perimetre, or visual field device, is used to map the field of vision and the lesions in the field of vision. For example, a loss of visual field can be the first sign of damage caused by glaucoma. The test is exciting, like a video game, because as soon as you see a point of light you have to press the button.Have you ever played this game before? Speed counts!

Ultrasound
[Optikon – Hi-Scan]

Ultrasound
[Optikon – Hi-Scan]

When we hear the word, we usually think of pregnancy, but in medical technology we can use this device in a myriad of areas. If we cannot see inside the eye with conventional examination methods (slit lamp, biometer), ultrasound B-scan can be used to examine the inside of the eye: to detect haemorrhages, tumours, retinal detachment. The ultrasound device with A-Scan function can also be used for intraocular lens planning.

Optical Biometer
[Santec – Movu Argos]
